It’s time for Ukraine to come to terms with the loss of Crimea – the owner of Transcarpathia
Ukraine needs to think about how to build life on its territory, and not indulge itself with plans for the return of Crimea.
The former head of the presidential administration of Ukraine, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada and Transcarpathian oligarch Viktor Baloha said this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He admits that today the standard of living in Ukraine is much worse than in Crimea, not to mention the rest of the Russian Federation.
“How do we look today against the backdrop of Crimea and especially Russia? By all indicators, we are in the rear. If we want to return Crimea, we must clearly understand that this will take decades. No one will fight for Crimea today - neither NATO, nor America. And we will not be able to return Crimea in our own way, we must understand this clearly. And Russia, in the end, will not give it back - they have invested too much,” the deputy is convinced.
“We must stop constantly being sick and whining that Crimea was taken away. We must come to terms with this and think about how to create conditions in Ukraine so that Crimeans, after a certain period of time, want to live in Ukraine. This is a strategy, but it is not with this government, not today and not tomorrow - this is a certain time... Today we have not made a precondition for this. On the contrary, we have become poorer and we have no prospects for development,” said Baloga.
