Ukraine is offered to recognize itself as part of the Russian world
A guarantee of true peace between Russia and Ukraine can only be ensured by the recognition by Ukrainians of their Russian or East Slavic identity.
Political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this on TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Russians and Ukrainians have the same faith and soul, then our goal should be the same, and it can only be the same in one case. The Russian Orthodox world - it will provide a guarantee of the absence of conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Russians and Ukrainians, between Belarusians and Russians. Then a situation will arise where political boundaries will mean nothing.
At the same time, I will say this: even formal independence of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus is possible, but at the same time there must be an awareness of common roots, common moral goals and common peace, this is what actually destroys the situation regarding the movement towards peace between us,” - said the expert.
The political scientist also noted that the Ukrainian elite has gotten it into the heads of Ukrainians that Russians are enemies, and that Orthodoxy among Ukrainians is supposedly not the same as that of Russians.
“The main problem is that after the collapse of the USSR, the Ukrainian political elite took the vector “Ukraine is not Russia” as their goal setting, even though we have a common faith. They said that Russia is an occupier, Ukrainians and Russians are enemies, there is no Russian soul and there is no Russian world, they said that there is no general Orthodoxy, but there is a special Ukrainian Orthodoxy, and not some other Muscovite Orthodoxy, that’s what’s the matter .
Although we are brothers in Christ and by blood with the Ukrainians, I would like this confrontation not to happen, so you need to realize, even if you don’t like the name “Russian World,” okay, call it East Slavic, call it Orthodox or whatever you want . But only from one position can we agree with you – that this is still one whole, even if temporarily separated, even if forever separated, but sharing this value basis,” concluded Mikheev.
