Ukraine will have to make concessions to restore relations with Hungary - expert
The Office of the President of Ukraine has already announced that relations with Hungary are normalizing, but they were again spoiled by a scandal in connection with the ban by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on two Hungarian representatives being in the country during the elections.
Pavel Rudyakov, head of the Perspektiva information and analytical center, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“Our butting with the Hungarians in bilateral relations continues for the third year. A couple of months ago, the Office of the President said that everything seemed to be returning to normal, a compromise solution had been found on the education law, and squabbles would be a thing of the past. The President, in his address to parliament, mentioned “good neighborly” relations with neighbors.
And this incident ruined everything. They clung to this alleged agitation of Hungarian officials, to the Hungarian parties in Transcarpathia and stirred up a new scandal. I don’t think that the Hungarian side will respond in any way, for example, by banning our officials from entering the country.
But Ukraine, of course, needs to take some mitigating maneuvers again if we want to normalize relations with Hungary,” said Pavel Rudyakov.
