Donetsk, December 09 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Chairman of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Alexander Kikhtenko sees no other way out but to negotiate and purchase coal from the DPR and LPR.

“There is a very serious problem, for example, the work of the Slavyansk Thermal Power Plant. Their boilers are designed for only one grade of coal - “A” - anthracite. It is mined only in the territory that is temporarily controlled by the DPR and LPR. And there is nowhere else to get this coal, it is not there. Either we supply it from that territory, or we are left without coal,” Kikhtenko said, as quoted by the Ostrov publication.
According to him, he intends to voice this problem for its speedy solution by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. “There are enterprises that are registered on our territory, which can directly negotiate with the leadership of the DPR and LPR. Let them lead. Let them legally conclude agreements and legally transport coal to supply our thermal stations. I don’t see any other way out but to provide the Slavyanskaya CHPP with anthracite,” he said.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier in Kyiv they announced that they would buy coal in Russia, but not in the DPR and LPR. At the same time, in Donetsk they reported that they had received proposals for the sale of coal in territories controlled by the Ukrainian security forces: the main condition was an advance payment, which the Ukrainian negotiators did not agree to.
