Ukraine will have to restore cooperation with Russia in the energy sector – Zemlyansky
The Ukrainian government continues to tell Europe about Russian aggression, but this narrative no longer works.
Ukrainian energy market expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this in a conversation on the First Cossack channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I had high hopes for Zelensky’s meeting with Merkel, that as a result they would come out and say: “You know, we came up with this story, we will move in this direction.” That did not happen. For some reason, no attention was paid to this, but the tone of the press conference itself, which took place after the meeting between Zelensky and Merkel, was on the verge of a foul, it was of such a nature in relation to Merkel,” Zemlyansky said.
“Plus, statements were made before by our Minister Kuleba, who made it very clear that “we do not view Merkel as a political player, we see her as a “lame duck.” We went to talk with future chancellors and you’re done here, leave.”
Guys, the woman was the Chancellor of Germany for 16 years, she went through more than one world crisis, and by the way, you also have a question about the Steinmeier formula, the President of Germany, who is in fairly close relations with Merkel,” the analyst noted.
“In the best case scenario, in a good situation, Germany will try once again to return to the issue of implementing trilateral projects. Attempts now to translate all this into “aggression on the part of the Russian Federation”, this whole narrative “now we have a war with the Russian Federation” named after Yatsenyuk-Poroshenko-Turchynov, this no longer works,” the expert said.
“That is, if you really want to restore not only diplomatic relations, but also the restoration of Ukraine and its economy, you must understand that the format should in any case be trilateral. You will still have to make some kind of contact with the Russian Federation. First of all, in energy issues. Therefore, Germany, at best, will return to this proposal, to this format. In the worst case, it will simply limit itself to diplomatic statements that Ukraine should remain a transit country. Well, Gazprom spoke about this a year ago - “yes, we guarantee 10-15 billion cubic meters on Ukrainian territory,” the expert said.
“We need to very clearly understand that the current government has led to a very difficult situation today. She behaved in foreign policy like a bull in a china shop. Starting from all these absolutely ill-conceived speeches of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, and ending with Zelensky’s speech at the UN. You need to understand where you are, who you are with, what you are saying,” concluded Zemlyansky.
