Kyiv, January 20 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – The TMM construction company entered into an agreement with HESCO Bastion, Inc., a British manufacturer of fortification structures. HESCO products are used for military purposes in a number of “hot spots” (Afghanistan, Iraq) and for security purposes (creation of barrier lines) in conflict zones (Northern Cyprus, Northern Ireland) as well as for the creation of reinforced border barriers (Morocco-Western Sahara, Spain -Morocco), USA-Mexico).

Using HESCO Bastion technologies, the TMM company intends to begin producing fortification structures for the Ukrainian army (fortified checkpoints, field barracks, etc.). In addition, it is possible to use similar technologies for the so-called. “Walls” on the border with Russia.

Representatives of the HESCO Bastion company presented their developments to journalists, and representatives of the Ukrainian side spoke about the prospects for cooperation and the advantages of HESCO fortification structures. According to the president of the TMM company, Nikolai Tolmachev, they are much cheaper than similar concrete structures. Thus, a concrete checkpoint costs about 120 thousand UAH, and a checkpoint built using HESCO technology costs about 32 thousand UAH.

The technology for constructing roadblocks and tactical barriers is simple: soil is poured into huge bag-shaped containers, and the containers are placed one on top of the other. Similar products are produced by many companies, including in Ukraine, but HESCO technologies provide structures with increased strength and resistance to external influences, including rain, etc.

HESCO Bastion structures provide reliable protection against projectiles and mines. In particular, the ceiling of the fortified field barracks can withstand a 135 mm mine.

“We are convinced that if the checkpoint in Volnovakha was equipped with such fortifications, there would be no casualties among the civilian population,” said Anatoly Baronin, director of the analytical group Da Vinci AG, presenting HESCO Bastion products.

It is possible to launch the production of fortifications using HESCO technologies in 3 months in peacetime and 6 months in wartime, said Nikolai Tolmachev. Although the issue of funding has not yet been resolved, HESCO Bastion and TMM are already “working” with the Ministry of Defense, which allows us to hope that this problem can be resolved.
