Ukraine in PACE got the role of a “back-of-the-shop statist” – Russia took over the agenda
While Ukraine, offended, left PACE, and then, having changed its mind, returned, the distribution of key positions took place in the assembly.
Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Belashko stated this on air on the First Cossack channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I wanted to say that the years have passed, passions have subsided, but Ukrainian passions subside much faster, that is, literally a few months have passed (after Ukraine’s demarche from PACE due to the return of the Russian delegation - ed.), and as if nothing had happened - it is accepted the decision that yes, we will go, again fight the position of the aggressor, tell the truth, convey it to European opinion leaders, and so on.
If you look at what happened over these few months, then there was a distribution of key positions in the PA - various kinds of administrative and organizational functions and powers tied to certain posts, which are replaced by representatives of different countries through rotation, and, in fact, Ukraine has already turned out to be an outsider in this celebration of life,” the expert said.
“When the Ukrainian delegation takes a seat in the hall of the PACE plenary session, they will actually be assigned the role of extras in the back of the shop. That is, they will speak there, submit some of their comments, projects, remarks, but other people, including Russians, will form the agenda, develop some draft decisions and so on,” Belashko added .
