A Ukrainian blew himself up with a grenade in front of his ex-wife
In the Krasnopolsky district of the Sumy region yesterday, a 35-year-old man blew himself up with a grenade in front of his ex-wife, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Communications Department of the GUNP in the Sumy region.
“The leadership of the GUNP, the investigative and operational group of the police department, and workers from the explosives and canine services immediately responded to the call. It was established that his ex-wife witnessed the husband's death. According to her, they had been divorced for four years, but maintained good relations, because they had two minor children. That day he called and asked to come to the forest belt, which was not far from their house, to say goodbye. And when she arrived, she saw a man holding a grenade in his hands. At first he threw her from hand to hand, and after she fell to the ground, he covered her with his body. There was an explosion. The woman herself was not injured,” said Vitaly Gordienko, head of the Krasnopolsky police department.
Police investigators conducted two searches of the houses where the deceased lived. Law enforcement officers did not find anything in the house of the ex-wife, but in the house where the deceased had lived for the last four years, an unregistered smooth-bore hunting rifle and cartridges of various calibers were found.
At the place of residence, the deceased was characterized on the positive side; he had no criminal record. After examining the scene, the police found metal fragments and a metal bracket from an F-1 grenade.
On this fact, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Art. 115 (premeditated murder) and Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons), under which the police investigate the causes and circumstances of suicide, as well as the origin of weapons and ammunition.
