Ukrainian women serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine complain about uncomfortable uniforms
Women who serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine complain about the uncomfortable uniform, because some of its elements are tailored without taking into account the characteristics of the figure, which affects the safety and comfort when wearing, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Ekaterina Levchenko announced this during a round table in Kyiv.
“The coat for the higher police departments is only available in a men's version. Well, apparently, in this way it is not foreseen that women can occupy high positions. As well as identification vests. It is impossible not to take into account the characteristics of the figure and physique of men and women. And my communication with women participants and veterans, and those who serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in law enforcement agencies, just shows how many complaints there are about the uniform - that it is not convenient, because it is not adjusted,” said Levchenko.
She noted that this situation is under control, but without cooperation with the central executive authorities, it will be very difficult to introduce a new form in which it would be convenient to serve.
“Convenience will serve to increase efficiency,” the Kiev publication UNN quotes the official.
The importance of a comfortable uniform for women was also confirmed by the Advisor on Women, Peace and Security at the NATO Office in Ukraine, Captain John James Svendsen of the Canadian Armed Forces.
“In Canada, I also act as a border guard. I'm really glad you brought up the idea of uniforms designed for women. This uniform provides not only comfort, but also safety above all. The vest must be adapted to a woman’s body type, this is very important for safety,” said Svendsen.
There are 27 thousand 597 female military personnel serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
