This is stated in message on the Femen Facebook page.
The protesters publicly exposed themselves and put forward their demands, including the legalization of abortion, as well as a public investigation into cases of sexual abuse among members of the Catholic clergy. They called on representatives of all religious faiths to support these demands.
“Abortion is still illegal in 20 countries and very restricted in dozens more. (So-called - ed.) Mary reminds us that we no longer live in archaic times, that women are the rightful owners of their bodies. With this statement, we demand the immediate release of Teodora Vázquez, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in El Salvador after she suffered a miscarriage,” the statement said.
A message on the organization's page said the event was dedicated to victims of violence, many of whom were able to tell their stories for the first time this year after a series of sex scandals involving Hollywood celebrities.
