Ukrainian Maidan activist called on the Russian-speaking “opposition” to prove their loyalty to the South-East
The so-called Ukrainian opposition, which entered parliament thanks to the population of Russian-speaking regions, must prove its opposition and achieve equal rights for all citizens of the country, regardless of the language of communication.
A native of Western Ukraine, journalist and ex-Maidan activist Ruslan Kotsaba stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kotsaba, politicians who have declared themselves the opposition must now protect the rights of the Russian-speaking population in the southeast of the country.
“For the opposition, now is the time when it must prove that it is the opposition. Because they are popular among Russian-speaking Ukrainians. Russian-speaking Ukrainians are also patriots of their state. They are also honest tax payers. And so it turns out that we are divided into different varieties.
I am a Ukrainian-speaking Ukrainian, like the correct one, the white race, and they are the gray race. Therefore, for the opposition now it is to prove that they protect the interests of the Russian-speaking south and east of Ukraine, where, as I repeat, historically it has happened that the majority there are Russian speakers,” Kotsaba said.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted law on complete general secondary education, providing for the translation of 80% of school subjects into the Ukrainian language of instruction.
