According to the publication Svidok, the armored vehicles will be equipped with the Shkval combat module, which “has already shown its high effectiveness in the Donbass.”
The main firepower of the Shkval is provided by the Barrier anti-tank complex with RK-2S missiles, which are used in the Skif anti-tank complex. This weapon is capable of destroying any tank in the world, the media writes.
According to the manufacturer KB Luch, it is possible to hit targets from the Barrier at a distance of 5 kilometers. This is twice the capabilities of the American Javelin. “A feature of the Ukrainian development is a target guidance system using a laser beam, which irradiates the enemy only in the last moments of the flight. The irradiation time is so short that even the newest tanks do not have time to trigger the obstacle launch system. The Ukrainian development penetrates 800 millimeters of tank armor,” the publication reports.
To destroy lightly armored vehicles and infantry, the Shkval combat module is armed with a 30-mm automatic cannon. It is capable of firing over a distance of 4 kilometers and fires 400 shells per minute. In addition, the gunner has an AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher at his disposal.
The high efficiency of the combat module is ensured by its thermal imaging sight, as well as a computerized firing system. So the operator of the combat module sits in front of a monitor on which, at any time of the day, not only the target is clearly visible, but also all the necessary information for its destruction, which is calculated by the computer.
