The Ukrainian army will no longer become stronger
The law on the so-called “reintegration” of Donbass, signed yesterday by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, essentially does not change anything for the residents of Donbass. It is more populist in nature, and legitimizes the use of the Ukrainian army against the civilian population of the southeast of the former Ukraine.

This opinion, commenting on the signing of this law, was expressed by the head of the press service of the DPR Armed Forces, Daniil Bezsonov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for this law, I personally believe that so much importance is being given to it in vain and the panic about it on the Internet is completely unfounded. In fact, in military terms, it changes absolutely nothing, because the Ukrainian army will not become stronger from this. The war has been going on for four years, and the Ukrainian army has already shown everything it is capable of. She acted extremely aggressively and will not act more aggressively. This law was passed more for populism and to give more power to the military. He finally legalized the use of the army within the state against its own people. Before this, the army was used illegally,” Bezsonov said.
He also added that if previously “ATO” was led by the SBU, now the leadership has passed to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, with this law, the Ukrainian authorities essentially introduced martial law in the Donbass. In addition, military commanders of any rank can take away property from citizens.
Speaking about the changes that residents of Donbass should expect, Daniil Bezsonov noted that there will be no special changes.
“I don’t think there will be any special changes. Just as the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out shelling of our territory with heavy weapons, so they will carry them out. The Ukrainian side is preparing for an offensive, building up its forces, we know about all their actions and plans. There are no surprises for us. The question is whether they will decide to go on a large-scale offensive, whether there will be this order. If so, the Ukrainian army will cease to exist. Yes, it will be very difficult, but we know what they are capable of and what we are capable of. We are preparing for this."
Also, commenting on the situation on the contact line, the head of the press service noted the incessant shelling of peaceful cities in Donbass:
“In general, no significant changes are taking place on the line of contact; the shelling is the same as it was, only their intensity is changing. That week there was an attempt to break through the enemy DRG. One of the survivors of this group was captured by us. The Ukrainian side continues to provoke us into retaliatory actions. Recently they had a commission from the USA. They are actively preparing, ammunition, fuel and lubricants and food are being delivered, but whether there will be an order to begin large-scale offensive operations is no longer a question for me, and I think no one will answer it now.”
