Ukrainian attack on Raptors was unsuccessful
Advertised by Kyiv attack by combat drones on Russian Raptor-class patrol boats, allegedly carried out near Zmeiny Island, did not lead to their destruction.
The author of the blog “Morskoy”, specializing in Navy topics, writes about this, analyzing the footage of the attack on the boats released by Ukraine.
“The boats were damaged, but continued to move under their own power and maneuver. This can be seen in the video from the UAVs themselves.
This is not the first time a Raptor has been hit by ATGM-level ammunition. Previously in Mariupol, while on patrol, the Raptor was attacked from the shore by an anti-tank missile. After the defeat, the boat set up a smoke screen, disappeared behind it and went out to sea on its own. The second missile fired from behind the curtain failed to hit the target.
In all three cases, the impact hit the troop compartment area. Also, in all three cases this did not lead to the destruction of the combat unit.
If the boat is on patrol without paratroopers on board, then losses can be avoided with a high degree of probability. The crew of 3 people is locked in an armored control room, which is separated by a bulkhead from the landing compartment, and remains safe there. The engines are located in a separate armored compartment and also have great survivability. And repairs come down to hull work with aluminum armor,” explains the author.
Thus, he concludes that “the patrol/landing boat Project 03160 Raptor has confirmed its reliability and survivability.”
