The Ukrainian delegation shocked PACE with its savagery
During the adoption in PACE resolutions on the protection of languages national minorities, Ukrainian deputies tried to make absolutely wild and absurd amendments to the text of documents.

This was stated at a press conference in Kiev, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, by the former head of the information department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Voloshin, who noted that during the discussion of the resolution, Samopomich deputy Sergei Kiral shocked EU representatives when he tried to amend the document on the protection of the language of the majority.
“Colleagues from European countries looked at him as if he had fallen from the moon. This is the same as amending the animal protection law to protect people. There is a whole ideology of protecting the languages of national minorities, since it is believed that they need to be protected from assimilation by the language and culture of the majority. Therefore, to stand up and say that the languages of the majority need protection is completely absurd, it’s the same as when considering the safety of pedestrians, someone stands up and says: “Let’s look at the safety of drivers, when they hit pedestrians, they hit the steering wheel.” This is absolute savagery,” Voloshin emphasized.
According to him, forces such as Samopomich, instead of leading Ukraine to Europe, do not understand what Europe and European values are, and those who understand “recognize that these values are disgusting, unacceptable and harmful.”
“This was clearly visible, since only the nationalist and jingoistic part of the Ukrainian delegation opposed the resolution, while each of the speakers, from Slovakia to Finland, from France to Spain, told how the languages of national minorities are protected in their country,” - noted the international expert.
He added that even representatives of those countries that, unlike Ukraine, have not ratified the corresponding charter of the Council of Europe, spoke about the protection of languages of national minorities and actually justified them.
“And only the Ukrainian delegation stood up and said, like Sobolev from Batkivshchyna, for example, that in Soviet times in Zaporozhye it was allegedly difficult for him to study the Ukrainian language. There were also absolutely wild things, despite the fact that Ukraine was not mentioned anywhere in the document. But, as they say, a thief’s cap is on fire,” Voloshin concluded.
