The Ukrainian diaspora demands the continuation of the war from afar
Under no circumstances should Ukraine allow the war in Donbass to end.
The head of the Union of Ukrainians, Pavel Sadokha, who lives in Portugal, said this on air on the First Western TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Living abroad, we constantly take active part and have a constant interest in the events taking place in Ukraine. First of all, I can say that the majority of the Ukrainian public has proven this since the days of the Maidan, that it is against Russian aggression, and will fight against it in every possible way, first of all, informationally. These were collections of volunteer assistance, and various kinds of actions that asked the Portuguese government, appealed to politicians to impose sanctions in order to help Ukraine.
We do not accept any course to replace this policy. That is, any attempts to declare that we will end the war under any circumstances are absolutely unacceptable for us. And from the very first steps of the new government, which is led by Zelensky and his team, we warned and carried out actions that if such a policy continues, we will tell the world about it,” Sadokha promised.
Because we cannot - we, Ukrainians, cannot say for six years that there is a war in Ukraine and then in one year say that we were mistaken, that there is no war. Therefore, this is our statement, which we sent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and which we sent to the 26 embassies of EU countries.
This is already overflowing the cup of our patience, with which we observe what the authorities are doing in politics regarding Russian aggression. We will continue to do this, this statement is our position of the Ukrainian public, because it did not just come from our society, we discussed it on social networks with all active Ukrainians in Portugal,” added the representative of the diaspora.
