About it reports the publication of the Ukrainian diaspora “Ukrainian View”.
“Twelve Ukrainian beauties in national costumes marched in an impromptu procession from the Colosseum to Plaza de España. The women demonstrated Ukrainian culture to residents and guests of the eternal city through embroidered shirts. The culmination of the event was a fashion show on the world famous Spanish Steps, where fashion shows usually take place,” the statement said.
The publication assures that Italian passers-by greeted the “parade of embroidered shirts” “with great interest and sincere delight,” taking photographs and asking questions about Ukraine.
According to the initiator of the event, the chairman of the Congress of Ukrainians of Italy, Maryana Tril, “the action was a success.”
“The Ukrainian women of Rome, thus, not only joined the celebration of World Embroidery Day, but were also able to introduce many Italians to Ukrainian culture. Our national traditions are extremely rich – we don’t stop telling other peoples about them,” the activist noted.
“The main goal of the action was to popularize embroidery and remind the world that in such a beautiful and tradition-rich European country as Ukraine, people are still dying as a result of Russian aggression,” says Chairman of the Euromaidan Organizing Committee Rome Oles Gorodetsky.
