The Ukrainian diaspora in the United States supported the SBU
The Ukrainian diaspora in the United States supports the intentions to reform the SBU and is ready to help in this, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was stated by the President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Andrey Futei during a meeting with the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov, the SBU press center reports.
“We support your plans to reform the Security Service of Ukraine. The adoption of a new law on the SBU will allow us to move away from the post-Soviet system of management and organization of the Service. And we, in turn, will help you not to deviate from the path of transformation,” noted Andrey Futei.
The head of the SBU thanked the global Ukrainian community for the support of the reforms and emphasized that the Security Service must become a modern and more effective structure that is capable of not only quickly responding to threats, but also neutralizing them.
“Reform is a long process and the new law is its basis. However, the Service must change now. And we have already begun this process of change. It is inevitable,” said the head of the SBU.
Separately, the parties focused on the results of the December summit of the Normandy Four and the efforts of the President of Ukraine to end the war and establish the long-awaited peace on our land.
It was noted that the diaspora has provided and is ready to continue to provide full support in this matter.
“Our statements are public and open. And we will continue to support all your initiatives to establish peace in Ukraine,” said Andriy Futei.
Let us remember that the majority of American diaspora citizens who came to the polls in the spring of the outgoing year voted for Petro Poroshenko, and the leadership of diaspora organizations then actively campaigned against Vladimir Zelensky.
