Ukrainian diplomacy wants an agreement with a nuclear state on immediate defense
Moscow
Ukraine needs a bilateral agreement with a nuclear state, preferably the United States, on security guarantees. Such an agreement should stipulate that Ukraine’s partner undertakes to immediately stand up for it in the event of aggression.
The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly, said this on the radio “Novoye Vremya”, a correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“I think that in such conditions it’s worth preparing what I would like to see. This is a bilateral Ukrainian-American defense and security agreement. Such an agreement when the nuclear state America undertakes to immediately defend Ukraine. Not in just 72 hours, but right away. And Ukraine also undertakes with all its forces, which the whole world now sees, to defend our strong strategic partnership and alliance if such an agreement is signed,” the diplomat said.
“It is clear that this is a responsibility, it is clear that Ukraine needs it as a necessary at least intermediate stage in joining the system of collective defense and security. But after this phase of the war with Russia, which ends, we will not have security if we do not have such an agreement with a nuclear state. And the United States, obviously, is the best option for us,” Chaly said.
