Kiev diplomacy: “Ukraine could become a battlefield in the third world war”
Ukraine could become an arena for military confrontation between global players.
The former representative of Ukraine at the negotiations on Donbass in Minsk, ex-ambassador to Belarus Roman Bessmertny, said this on radio NV, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Bessmertny, Ukraine should initiate a discussion of the issue of aggravation in Donbass at all international platforms.
“I don’t understand why Ukraine is not now turning to the UN Security Council [to] immediately hear information there about the tension that Russia is now increasing by bringing additional military units to the state borders of Ukraine. You see, such things are actually at the level of continental security. I'm not even talking about using the OSCE mechanism right up to the convening of the OSCE Assembly and so on.
All this matters; you cannot take it lightly in such a situation, because later it will happen, just as it happened with the “Budapest Memorandum.” Remember, at the beginning - “there wasn’t, because no one initiated” and so on. Therefore, now we need to try to use all the mechanisms that are available, which were created to prevent more than just a serious conflict from starting.
You know very well that if we take the goal of creating the UN or the Security Council, mechanisms to counter war, then after the Second World War all this was created so that the world would not slide into a third and, God forbid, all this would not happen. And now, when we look at the situation, the world is slipping, and we need to understand so that Ukraine does not become a battlefield,” said Bessmertny.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, in Kyiv called to turn Ukraine into a spearhead third world war.
