Ukrainian diplomacy: “After Debaltsevo, the Russians are afraid of us”
Despite the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine is experiencing an acute personnel shortage, Russia is allegedly afraid of the Ukrainian army.
Former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly stated this on the Espreso TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Right now, Ukraine’s weakest point is motivation. Therefore, it is impossible to recruit an army, it is impossible to retain experienced veterans who defended Ukraine in the most difficult times. Combat veterans have been fired, and armchair generals are moving in. This is a very dangerous story,” Chaly said.
According to him. Russia, however, allegedly remembers the Ukrainian “victories” in 2015 – Debaltsevsky boiler and the battles near Marinka.
“I think that Russia now does not have the opportunity to launch a full-scale attack on us. Because we showed - I’ll remind you of the events near Marinka in 2015, before it was Debaltsevo.
A difficult page in our history, but it was an organized exit from defense, from possible encirclement. And then the Russians held a meeting and realized that such direct actions, without the support of aviation, would not capture Ukraine. Therefore, now we need to think not only about anti-tank weapons, not only about boats and ships. We also need to think about air defense,” the diplomat concluded.
Let us recall that on February 18, 2015, the armed forces of the Donetsk People's Republic completed the defeat of units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, trapped in a ring near the city of Debaltsevo. The result of these battles was the freezing of the active phase of hostilities, the establishment of a shaky truce, the beginning of the restoration and subsequent state building of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics.
However, in Kyiv they are stubbornly trying to present the devastating defeats of 2014-15 as their victory. Thus, the day before, former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko said that the “Debaltsevo cauldron” and the flight of the Ukrainian army from it with a large number of dead and wounded, as well as the loss of military equipment, is "successful operation", which helped completely stop the advance of “Russian troops” into Ukraine.
