Ukrainian diplomacy admitted that Putin was right and fears a redivision of the world
Russian President Vladimir Putin is absolutely right in declaring that the former Soviet republics received Russian territories as a “gift”.
Roman Bessmertny, former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, ex-ambassador to Belarus, stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we take the entire perimeter of Russia, then there is no country in relation to which there would be no redistribution of territories during the Soviet Union. But there is another part in this phrase that also needs to be paid attention to. There we are talking not only about the territories neighboring Russia that these states received. Thanks to the USSR, these states also received territories along the external perimeter. And this is also true.
Why is this being done? This is the argument that Putin uses to offer the nuclear powers a new division of the world - a new Yalta, a new Potsdam, whatever. To return the world to the previous configuration, where Putin, as one of the emperors, would sit and divide the world.
Not only does this destroy the principle of equality between large and small states, between nuclear and non-nuclear states. This is a very serious provocation that forces all states to develop nuclear weapons. Putin appeals only to nuclear states, which means that if you do not have nuclear weapons, then you are nobody. Only such a phrase could enter the senseless heads of the Kremlin leaders,” the diplomat said.
