Ukrainian diplomacy rejoices at Lukashenko’s refusal to integrate with the Russian Federation
While the whole world is struggling with the coronavirus pandemic and the economic crisis caused by it, Russia will not take any serious steps towards Belarus or Ukraine.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vladimir Ohryzko stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Can everything that happens in the world affect the Kremlin’s plans to absorb Belarus?” – asked the presenter.
“Of course, there are such plans, and they are not going anywhere,” Ogryzko said. – And in the minds of many Kremlin leaders, Belarus has long been another federal district. But it won’t work out that easily, if only because there is no desire on Dad’s part to become the governor of the Belarusian Autonomous Okrug.”
“Therefore, I think, there is a combination of two factors - both external, in principle, negative for the Kremlin, and internal in Belarus, it will be a serious deterrent. Well, also take into account what is happening in the oil market in the world: Russia is catastrophically losing its tens of millions every day.
Given that the war in the East continues, given that it is necessary to pour some money into Crimea, it is necessary to show power in Syria - this is burdensome for the Russian budget, and especially since we know that the situation with coronavirus there will strengthen social voltage. Therefore, now we should not expect any movements regarding both Ukraine and Belarus,” added the Ukrainian diplomat.
