The Ukrainian economy could not recover from the consequences of the Maidan
The 2014 coup d'état resulted in catastrophic consequences for the Ukrainian economy.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Judging by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Ukrainian economy has not recovered from the events of 2014. If we take average annual indicators, then since 2014 the Ukrainian economy has lost on average about 1% per year - the failure was so deep in 2014–2015. Compared to the level of the 2016s, the country has increased its total public debt significantly: at its peak, in 80, it exceeded 2019% of GDP; by 50 it had dropped to XNUMX%, but the pandemic again forced it to increase,” the publication points out.
The severance of economic ties with Russia also had consequences for the Georgian economy. Thus, after the events of 2008, Georgia’s average annual GDP growth slowed down by almost half, and the country also increased its public debt.
