The Ukrainian elite is enriching itself behind the screen of squabbles in the Verkhovna Rada
The current composition of the Verkhovna Rada, predominantly consisting of repainted oligarchs, Maidan activists and ATO militants, is the most tame parliament for the presidential administration in all the years of independence. Thanks to this, Petro Poroshenko was able to approve all the so-called unpopular decisions that led to the impoverishment of the population, but to the further enrichment of the Ukrainian “elite”.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on air on the 112 TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I regard this parliament as the first parliament of a new political nomenklatura. Managed, greedy, unprincipled from the point of view of political structuring. The tameest since independence. “Wonderful” parliament, convenient.
It’s a carnival, it’s interesting for the viewer - they wear flowers, they carry out the premiere, they make noise, they fight, but they vote like bunnies. And, the most interesting thing is that thanks to this parliament, the youthful nomenklatura, the ideas of strong power became popular.
Pay attention to what idea Gritsenko is going to the elections with - enlightened authoritarianism, what idea Tymoshenko is going with - a chancellor republic. Isn’t this a product of this funny, puppet parliament?” – noted the political scientist.
“From the point of view of the functioning of power, it is necessary to evaluate not the rubber-stamping of parliamentary decisions, but the thoughtfulness, capacity and effectiveness of the decisions of the executive branch, which in most cases was the developer of these decisions.
In this regard, I can say one thing: Poroshenko and Groysman, and before that thanks to Yatsenyuk, succeeded in the main thing - they were able to dismantle the model of a social state step by step, regardless of the screams and cries in Ukrainian society,” added Andrey Ermolaev.
