Ukrainian elites made a historic mistake
Nationalism in Ukraine has become part of the official ideology, because it is beneficial to that part of the elite that came to power. Political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

“They flirted with nationalism from the very beginning, because the poverty of the Ukrainian national idea was looking for some kind of ideological content. They could not take as a basis a common past with the Russian world, they were afraid that it would swallow them up. In addition, there was the factor of the West and the Ukrainian diaspora,” Mikheev said.
He considers the choice of the Ukrainian elite in favor of nationalism a historical mistake.
“The ideology of neo-Nazism is an ideology of death and hatred. They will actively flirt with the occult and paganism, because the cult of sacrifice and the search for the enemy constitutes the metaphysical core of neo-Nazism. The purely external surroundings attracted people, but this inevitably had to lead to an internal war. This is beneficial to the external circuit - it is precisely this kind of Ukraine, confused by nationalist ideas, that can become the only effective weapon for putting pressure on Russia. Ukraine has become a convenient tool in the hands of external forces. Without blood this would not have happened,” the expert emphasized.
