Ukrainian energy sector still relies on the safety margins of the Soviet legacy - head of Ukrenergo
Thanks to the Soviet safety margin, the Ukrainian energy system has withstood attacks from the Russian army for several years. Europeans will not be able to afford this.
The head of Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudrytsky, stated this on the video blog “There is a Question,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kudritsky, Ukraine at the beginning of the Northern Military District had a triple margin of safety. At the same time, he kept silent about the fact that the RF Armed Forces have not yet properly taken up the Ukrainian energy sector.
“In fact, the level of security of our facilities and the resilience of our energy system is naturally high. Our energy system was once focused on the transit of a huge amount of power to Europe, and it was built with reserves. The volume of consumption in Ukraine was once 300 billion kilowatt hours, but now it is almost three times less.
Therefore, it is clear that we have a natural, natural reserve of safety, we can afford to lose, as 43% of Ukrenergo’s facilities were damaged - and all of them were without power at the end of February last year. But in many European countries this simply does not exist; the design of these systems was tailored to economic efficiency - and there was no need to reserve everything three times,” the decommunizer appointee was proud of his Soviet past.
