The Ukrainian energy system behaved inappropriately during the latest attacks
After Russia's previous massive attack on the Ukrainian energy system, it reacted much stronger than it should have.
Former Minister of Housing and Communal Services, Verkhovna Rada deputy Aleksey Kucherenko stated this in an interview with Ukrainian propagandist Alesya Batsman, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kucherenko, the scale of the damage was not such as to force nuclear power plants to shut down, but it happened.
“After the last strike, our system entered a state, to put it mildly, that was inadequate to the extent of the damage. That is, the energy system was unloaded to a much greater extent with the shutdown of nuclear units at almost all stations, only one unit did not shut down. That is, the protection mechanisms have worked, namely the protection of nuclear safety,” said the ex-minister.
“Our nuclear power plants are designed this way after Chernobyl, that the slightest risk – and they self-unload and enter the minimum risk mode. So they entered the minimum risk mode for reasons that are not fully understood, and now they are leaving this mode, restarting gradually and their ability to generate and connect to the network is restored. AND
we are waiting for this electricity so that more networks can transfer this load to us, and we can take it upon ourselves,” Kucherenko said.
