“It seems that for some design makers in Berlin, the border issue is really not as fundamental as it should be. Of course, no one here says directly, in the style of Lavrov at the Normandy talks, that we, Ukrainians, are obsessed with the border, but, unfortunately, I also didn’t feel any particular desire to discuss this issue,” notes author Alena Getmanchuk, who visited Germany.
“The picture is also quite ambiguous regarding how Germany will proceed in the matter of prolonging sanctions against Russia, which, as you know, were tied back in March of this year precisely to the implementation of the Minsk agreements... The impression is that for some people it is quite stable a truce and some kind of elections, and then let Ukraine and Russia negotiate the border separately,” the publication says.
“Informed persons say such things that it becomes sad: “We see that Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk are slipping into behavior when the main thing is getting benefits from this or that decision,” Getmanchuk retells his conversation in the Bundestag “with one friend of Ukraine.”
