Ukrainian newspaper: Poland stabbed in the back
The resolution of the Polish parliament accusing the OUN-UPA of the genocide of the Poles is “a stab in the back,” writes the newspaper Zerkalo Nedeli, which is considered influential in Kyiv.

“The adoption of the document at a time when the Russian-Ukrainian war is going on is like a shot in the back. Warsaw, in fact, played into the hands of Moscow, which is trying in every possible way to discredit Kyiv in the eyes of the world community. And in the eyes of Ukrainians (though not all, but many), the Poles turned out to be no better than the Russians,” the publication says.
“Today the Poles do not accept that for many Ukrainians Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych are national heroes, and the black and red banners, along with the state yellow and blue, have become a symbol of the struggle for independence. And tomorrow Bogdan Khmelnitsky and Ivan Bohun, who also did not act very well with the Poles, may turn out to be unacceptable to them,” the newspaper writes.
“It is obvious that the adoption of the resolution in the Polish Senate and Sejm will provoke symmetrical actions in the Verkhovna Rada, which opens a new session in September,” the publication predicts.
“Resolution “On honoring the memory of the victims of the genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists against citizens of the Second Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1943–1945.” will poison relations between Kyiv and Warsaw for a long time. Including because now, after the establishment of the National Day of Remembrance, processions of radicals professing anti-Ukrainian sentiments will officially take place on the streets of Polish cities every year,” the newspaper writes.
