Kyiv, February 09 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Having declared the Russian Federation an aggressor, the Verkhovna Rada, however, retained the status of a strategic partner for Russia.

The director of the Ukrainian Politics Foundation, Kost Bondarenko, drew attention to this paradox during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We declare Russia an aggressor, without denouncing the Great Treaty of 1997, which was extended in 2007,” the political scientist noted. – The first article of this agreement states that Ukraine and Russia recognize the regime of strategic partnership. That is, at the same time the country has been declared a strategic partner and an aggressor.”
