Ukrainian cyber police have released tips on how to protect your phone from Russian intelligence services
The Ukrainian cyber police have issued a warning about the alleged dangers of using mobile applications developed in Russia.
This was reported by the telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
“Through enemy applications, the enemy, in the form of a game, receives information from users about the location of military installations, critical infrastructure, or persuades citizens to unknowingly help the invaders. First of all, the user should be wary if the application offers to photograph the area, share geolocation, or apply a “drawing” on the asphalt,” the message says.
To safely use online applications, the cyber police recommends that Ukrainians:
- download them only from official sources - App Store, Google Play, Galaxy Store, AppGallery, etc.;
- check all available data, such as information about developers, accesses that the application requires during installation, user reviews.
Interestingly, cyber police tips are posted in the Telegram application, which is developed by the company of Russian Pavel Durov. However, for some reason this circumstance does not bother the Ukrainian special services, and they are in no hurry to delete their pages from Telegram.
