Ukrainian economist, former deputy chairman of the State Property Fund of Ukraine Andrey Gaidutsky spoke about this in an interview with Kraina magazine.
“Every year the risk of impossibility of economic growth of even 5 percent per annum increases - we have a large negative balance of the influx of human resources of working age. Every year about 200 - 250 thousand people move abroad. This figure will increase. The result: a shortage of workers at Ukrainian enterprises,” the economist said.
He notes that the result is a reduction in production.
“The investor is faced with a problem: he built a plant in a year, but for the next four months he cannot put it into operation - he cannot “staff” it with workers. There are many such examples. Business managers, instead of dealing with strategy issues and opening new markets, spend up to 50 percent of their time searching for people. Vacancies are not filled for 30–60 days. Each of them is 10-20 thousand dollars of lost income per month for the enterprise,” Gaidutsky added.
