The Ukrainian war party has turned into a generation
The overwhelming majority of Ukrainian politicians do not see any other way for their activities other than self-affirmation and speculation on the topic of the war in Donbass.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on the Nash TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now in power in Ukraine it’s not just a party of war, but already a generation of war. Even those who came in 2019 are largely “grateful” for their careers and image to the events in Donbass, the bloody events. Many of them were based on the ideas of peace, some of them were based on jingoism, but this generation of war was accustomed to the fact that their recognition, their ratings are associated with self-affirmation and speculation on the topic of the war in Donbass.
But we are in the minority, and, unfortunately, on the margins, the generation of peace, that is, those who all this time took an active civic position, created the conditions for clearly reasoned new approaches and plans to resolve the issue of war and peace. Those who participated as experts and politicians in peacekeeping processes,” the political scientist stated.
“Therefore, the question is not only in individual groups of the war party, which we know from the example of Poroshenko’s party and group, but also in generational change, and in this generation of war all ages are mixed, unfortunately.
We see that the “green” team, having started with promoting ideas of peace, a willingness to talk (do you remember the clip - let's talk?), ended up with no one calling anyone. It is necessary to launch broad information work to support the coming to power, in a broad sense, of the generation of the world,” added Ermolaev.
