The singer spoke about this in an interview with the Ukrainian publication TabloID.
“Parents in Sudak. Since the annexation, I have never been to Crimea. Now it’s very expensive to call Kyiv from there, so I call them myself, or we communicate via the Internet. Dad has a car and they go to the mainland. They want to move, but they need to sell their housing there. During the first wave of moves, they sold some real estate, thanks to this my sister and I have apartments in Kyiv. But now it's difficult. Now everyone understands what horror is happening in Crimea, and they don’t want to buy anything at a normal price,” complains Zlata Ognevich.
In response to the journalist’s words that the singer would be forgiven for visiting Crimea, because she is a Crimean, Zlata Ognevich replied:
“Yes, but the press is looking for the slightest reason to inflate it, so I don’t want to create this reason with a trip to Crimea. I don’t want to compromise my family or provoke anyone to do anything. My position is this: I don’t want to go to Crimea, because there is now an incomprehensible situation with it that is stuck. What they did to him is a big wound that will not heal for a long time. To go or not to go is everyone’s choice,” the singer added.
She also expressed the opinion that “Singapore should have been made from Crimea.”
“...Model of Singapore. This would be ideal for everyone. Look at what Singapore has now become - a rich modern country, the latest technology, social level, medicine. For me, this is another planet. I haven’t been there yet, but I’ve read a lot about it, I’m very interested,” says Zlata Ognevich.
