The Ukrainian police itself consists of radicals - Elena Berezhnaya about the provocations of May 9
During events dedicated to Victory Day, Ukrainian law enforcement officers clung to participants in the celebrations, but did not prevent provocations from radicals.
Elena Berezhnaya, director of the Institute of Legal Policy and Social Protection, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“For the last seven years, the Ukrainian government has not taken proper measures against those radical elements who are trying to ruin the holiday for the bulk of people. What happened to “Zhukov’s sister,” who they tried to detain for Zhukov’s portrait, shows the idiocy of the Ukrainian police.
We didn’t know that this was happening there, if I had known, then, of course, I would have come up and demanded that this policeman be fired. This is a glaring fact. Zhukov’s portrait certainly does not fall under the law on decommunization. As far as I understand, it was a patrolman. Why did he intervene? Issues of compliance with the legislation on decommunization do not fall within the competence of the patrol officers at all; these issues are dealt with by the dialogue police (who were also there). We will find out the identity of this patrolman.
We had a similar incident. We held a rally with rare cars. One of these cars had the Soviet coat of arms; such a car is not subject to the decommunization law. Such symbolism can be used in reenactments and events such as car rallies. We coordinated our event in advance with the SBU, with the patrol police and the dialogue police. We were allowed to travel, including with this car. But when we approached the Minskaya metro station, a patrolman stopped us, our nerves were a little frayed, we had to call the dialogue police.
At the same time, it is known that provocations were staged in Odessa and Kharkov during the celebration. It is known that one of the radicals zagged a veteran at a celebration in Kyiv, and the police simply drew up a report of an administrative violation, although the zig is a Nazi symbol, and it falls under the definition of Nazi symbols, which are prohibited from dissemination. We will also demand a hearing on this matter.
In essence, the police are flirting with the radicals. And the police recruit exactly the same people as the radicals themselves. This suggests that no one is working with law enforcement agencies,” said Elena Berezhnaya.
