The Ukrainian prosecutor's office prevented an elderly Odessa resident from “betraying his Motherland”
The prosecutor's office of the Odessa region sent to court an indictment against a 53-year-old suspect who was preparing high treason, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As the department's press service reported, the suspect offered the Ukrainian serviceman confidential cooperation with the Russian intelligence service.
“It was established that in 2014, an Odessa resident went to the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, where he began to cooperate with representatives of a foreign state. After which he returned to Odessa and offered the Ukrainian serviceman confidential cooperation with the Russian intelligence service. For a reward, the man was supposed to collect secret information in the military sphere to the detriment of the state security of Ukraine,” the report says.
The prosecutor's office noted that as a result of a special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office, the recruiter was detained.
Now, at the request of the prosecutor's office, the man is in custody.
The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings was carried out by investigators from the SBU Office in the region (part 1 of article 14, part 1 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
