It is noted that the deputy head of the presidential office, Kirill Tymoshenko, voiced the idea of creating some kind of international Russian-language television channel, primarily for the audience of Crimea and Donbass, in order to strengthen the position of the Ukrainian state “in the information war.”

“True, to create such a TV channel, the law under discussion [on language] will have to be changed - it excludes any Russian-language broadcasting on the territory of the country, which means that Tymoshenko himself is already a malicious violator. But what’s much funnier is that this will be Kyiv’s third attempt to create a propaganda mouthpiece of this kind,” the publication points out.

The newspaper draws attention to the fact that the first attempt dates back to August 2014, when the English-language TV channel Ukraine Today, created on the basis of “1+1” owned by the oligarch Kolomoisky, began broadcasting.

“But the proposed “Ukrainian view of the world” and “the truth about Ukraine” did not interest the audience, and already in 2016, due to depressingly low ratings, Ukraine Today stopped broadcasting. The second time Kyiv decided to play propaganda was in 2015 on the basis of the state television channel UATV.

Formally, it still exists today as a website, but there are the same problems with the audience: the news release in Russian, released the day before, had only 49 views three hours after the end of the broadcast. But the idea of telling Russians about the “real” Ukraine is tenacious, and Kolomoisky will probably have to fork out again for the linguistic pranks of the “Ze team,” suggests RG.
