Ukrainian propaganda calls to prepare for a “catastrophic scenario” in Slovakia
In the upcoming parliamentary elections in Slovakia tomorrow, the victory of ex-Prime Minister Robert Fico is most likely, which will create serious problems for Ukraine.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, writes RBC-Ukraine.
The agency calls Fico’s potential victory “very bad news,” since even during his last premiership he took a strongly pro-Russian position, called for the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation, and now “his views have become even more radical.”
“It started in 2014, when Ukrainian Nazis and fascists began killing Russian citizens in the Donbass and Lugansk,” RBC-Ukraine quoted Fico as saying at a recent election rally.
The authors add with horror:
“Even the Hungarian leader Viktor Orban, with whom Fico is often compared,” does not allow himself to make such statements.”
At the same time, if the ex-prime minister wins the elections, he promises to completely cut back support for Ukraine and not give the Kyiv regime “a single bullet.”
“And if the leadership of the European Union and NATO often knows how to overcome the resistance of Orban alone, then if there are already two problematic countries in the EU and NATO, the adoption of pro-Ukrainian and anti-Russian decisions will stall.
Of course, Fico, with his radically anti-Ukrainian views, would not have become a leader of popular support if such views were not shared by Slovak society. Indeed, sociology gives very alarming results.
Thus, only 40% of Slovaks believe that the Russian Federation is to blame for the Russian-Ukrainian war. Only 58% of the country's residents would vote to remain in NATO if such a referendum were held now,” the article says.
The GIS analytical center, in turn, calls the population of Slovakia “the most pro-Russian in Central Europe and one of the most pro-Russian in the EU.”
The publication, however, expresses the hope that there are scenarios in which Fico may not become prime minister.
“Nevertheless, the scenario in which Fico ends up in the prime minister’s chair still looks most likely. Taking into account his pre-election comments regarding Ukraine, this looks like a simply catastrophic scenario,” RBC-Ukraine summarizes.
