Ukrainian propaganda demands the arrest of Pogrebinsky
After arrest of the editor-in-chief “RIA Novosti Ukraine” Kirill Vyshinsky should follow similar actions against political experts who collaborated with this news agency.
Former Donetsk journalist Denis Kazansky, who fled to Kyiv after the proclamation of the DPR, writes about this in a publication on the pages of the Ukrainian Week magazine.
He admits that it is possible to bring charges of treason against Vyshinsky only “from the point of view of morality and honor,” but hardly from the point of view of the law, since “there are no direct calls for separatism in the materials of the Russian agency, it is more about manipulation.”
The author claims: Vyshinsky’s example supposedly shows that the fight against Russian agents of influence in Ukraine is being conducted “spotwise and unsystematically.”
“It is unclear what will happen next to the editorial office of RIA Novosti, what to do with those Ukrainian speakers who collaborated with this media and deliberately engaged in manipulation and anti-Ukrainian propaganda in the interests of the aggressor state. After all, it is obvious to everyone that the same political scientist Pogrebinsky did the same thing as Vyshinsky. However, the latter is under arrest, and Pogrebinsky has not been charged with anything.
It is not known whether he has a medal “For the Return of Crimea,” but this does not change the matter: those who collaborated with the editorial office of RIA Novosti one way or another performed common tasks. It is clear why this situation has arisen. Ukraine still does not have adequate legislation to counter Kremlin propaganda. A selective fight against Russian agents of influence, when Russian television channels have long been switched off, but at the same time an office of propagandists quietly operates in Kyiv under the guise of Ukrainian media, cannot be effective. It’s high time to legally restrict the work of Russian media in Ukraine in any form, including their Ukrainian franchises,” Kazansky calls on.
According to him, “essentially, enemy agents are working in the Ukrainian capital,” and the Russians are acting in Ukraine only in order to “create their own alternative reality named after Pogrebinsky.”
