Ukrainian intelligence is trying to free captured Azov soldiers
The Ukrainian side, in particular the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, is trying to extricate the “Azovites” who surrendered in Mariupol from captivity.
The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andrey Ermak, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview with the online publication Left Bank.
He was asked about the conditions in which the “Azovites” are currently being held, and whether there is at least a hypothetical time frame for their return from captivity.
“It’s not an easy question, we’re looking into it. Today this is the main task, including power steering. We know that they are alive. As for the conditions, this issue is also being monitored. We cannot yet say clearly under what conditions. But we know for sure that they are alive.
The GUR constantly keeps this under control, there is contact with some of them, and the process of releasing them does not stop for an hour. I really hope that it will enter its active phase, and we will begin to return our heroes to Ukraine,” Ermak said.
At the same time, with questions regarding possible release or exchange, he recommended contacting the special press center that was created at the Main Intelligence Directorate.
“I know for sure that the task at the first stage was to preserve the lives of our heroes. The power steering completed this task. Today they are engaged in the second stage - their return. And I think they will be able to clearly explain all the details,” the official claims.
