In Kyiv, on the eve of the impeachment march announced by supporters of Mikheil Saakashvili, deported from Ukraine, timed to coincide with the next anniversary of the culminating street riots on the Kiev Maidan, the authorities blocked the city center.

“The height of cynicism. Iron structures were used to block the roadway of Khreshchatyk on the Maidan so that tomorrow the march for impeachment would not be able to take place here normally. It’s so terrible that it’s hard to wrap my head around it,” says Tatyana Vysotskaya, the editor-in-chief of the online publication NBN, indignantly.
“The metro was blocked, the Maidan was blocked with structures with photos of members of the Heavenly Hundred.
Was it even possible?” writes journalist Vyacheslav Chechilo.
