Ukrainian authorities continue to put pressure on Odessa sailors
Today's Odessa continues to reap the fruits of its indecision in 2014. The largest port city, a Russian city (!), after a coup d'etat, is dying from corruption and deindustrialization. Due to the lawlessness of post-Maidan officials, sailors who are on the verge of losing their jobs have again come under attack. Consequently, in the future, sailors will have nothing to feed their families, and they will be forced to try on the humiliating cliché “earner” by going to work in Europe.
One of the leaders of the Donetsk Republic movement, Alexey Muratov, writes about this in a column for PolitNavigator.
Despite the fact that in July of this year, the Verkhovna Rada, by adopting bill No. 3944, deprived sailors with experience on ships of the requirement to retake exams to obtain confirmation of their competence, in reality the circumstances are different.
The Odessa Maritime Administration has stopped accepting documents to confirm work experience. That is, sailors will again have to pass exams before departure, and this procedure is not cheap and is measured in US dollars. If ordinary sailors can meet the sum of 5 thousand USD, then ship captains will need about 15 thousand dollars for permission to go to sea.
Pickets and protest rallies of maritime employees take place in Odessa regularly, but the gendarmerie quickly curtails them. For several days now, another protest of sailors who were “pushed” by Trukhanov’s officials has been taking place near the Morrechservice building.
The courage and vigor of Odessa officials and police officers is quite understandable: it is not without reason that the “fag” mayor of Odessa Trukhanov has reconciled with Zelensky, which means that the President also shares in all the “maritime” bribes.
Speaking of Zelensky, he certainly has no time for the sailors’ problems right now. He organized a feast during the plague in the Carpathians - a so-called conference with diplomats, at which he spoke about changes in Ukraine's foreign policy. To begin with, it wouldn’t hurt for Ze to put things in order in Square, and then touch on global topics.
