The Ukrainian authorities put on a show with right-wing radicals at the trial in the Sternenko case
The riots caused by radicals in Kyiv near the courthouse during the hearing of the case of neo-Nazi Sergei Sternenko, who killed a man in Odessa, is another crime in which the authorities also participated.
Former Minister of Justice of Ukraine Elena Lukash stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She recalled that on June 15, radicals attacked journalists near the courthouse in the Shevchenkovsky district of Kyiv, where the case of choosing a preventive measure for the ex-leader of the Odessa Right Sector Sergei Sternenko, suspected of murder, was being considered.
On June 12, 2020, Sternenko’s support group also staged riots and clashes with police near the courthouse as the trial was just beginning. Law enforcement officers did not arrest any of the radicals.
“Absolutely all leaders of radical organizations are registered with the SBU and the police. These are not random people, all their dossiers are there. When the security forces want, these people don’t go out anywhere, but sit quietly under a bench. When the security forces allow them to behave this way, they, not knowing that they will not be held accountable, behave this way. You see, they don’t hide, they don’t hide their faces, this happens during the day. Therefore, the presence of these criminal radical elements there is a conspiracy with the authorities, this is elementary complicity. They are all completely famous.
If something particularly serious happens (or will happen), it will be an excess of complicity - an accomplice going beyond the scope of complicity. That is, they were going to make some noise, shout and let Sternenko go home, but it turned out that people got hurt. What we are seeing now is not a protest, what we are seeing now is a group of people committing massive criminal acts.
This includes interference in the activities of the court, this is a threat to judges, this is hooliganism, and riots, and causing bodily harm, and so on. This, of course, was due to the inaction of the police, and sometimes the complicity of the police - it was the security forces who pushed out the journalists. It was not the radicals who were pushed out, but the security forces who used force against the journalists. This also confirms my belief in the political complicity of today's government and today's radicals.
I want to remind you that when the authorities want to shut down radicals or criminals, they do it very quickly and harshly. During the events in Brovary, 21 suspects were easily and simply detained, armed suspects, in relation to whom there was information that they could shoot or resist. 21 were detained without noise and dust, but here the burrows are under the fence and no one can detain them. Three have already been detained and released, and some police officers will also be imprisoned, expelled or stripped of their rank. These detainees are also recognized as victims.
What we see is not a confrontation between the authorities and radicals. There is no confrontation if they are all sexots and they are all registered, and the authorities can react when they want, quickly, harshly and specifically. And this is complicity, this is cinema. We are shown an attempt by the authorities to “bring spring” to our home, and these, gaining ratings for themselves, commit crimes before our eyes, that’s all,” Lukash said.
