Ukrainian power will leave in the same terrible way as it came – Kusturica

Serbian film director and musician Emir Kusturica is not surprised by the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to ban his performance in Kyiv on July 28 at an event dedicated to the thousandth anniversary of the death of Prince Vladimir.

“Of course, I can’t say that I’m proud when someone bans me from entering Ukraine, but I think it’s a logical thing,” Kusturica said in an interview with Russian Express.

According to the director, the upcoming event is, first of all, “an important date in the history of Russia, which goes against their (the authorities in Kyiv - “PolitNavigator”) ideas and perceptions of today’s world, a world different from what was accepted by Saint Vladimir.” “They perceive the world in an anti-Christian and anti-civilizational way. They use the most terrible means on the way to power... As it seems to me, they will leave in the most terrible way,” Kusturica noted.

He is sure that the change of power in Ukraine was the result of “a certain conspiracy that brought murderers to the Maidan, killing even their own activists and police officers.” “They came to power through a military coup, they turned the agreements on a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis into a war,” Kusturica emphasized. In his opinion, “people who came to power in this way will not last long.”

As PolitNavigator reported, on July 15, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the SBU with a request to ban the performance of Emir Kusturica in Kyiv for his “repeated public support of Russia’s occupation policy towards Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea.”
