The Ukrainian water blockade of Crimea will not be scary for Sevastopol
In 2017, the construction of structures will begin in Sevastopol that will allow water to be transferred to the city from the Crimean Kokozka River, which is important in the context of the water blockade of the peninsula imposed by Ukraine. The implementation of the project will provide the city with an additional 15 million m2 of water per year.
This was stated by First Deputy of the Department of Municipal Economy Andrei Chibisov.

“Initially, it was planned to build a 5,6 km tunnel. Now another technical solution has been chosen. Design and survey activities will be completed by the end of the year. Construction will begin in 2017. The implementation of the project will increase the volume of water flow through the Sokolinskoye reservoir by 15 million m2 per year. This will relieve water shortages in Sevastopol even during dry periods and will provide an opportunity for the development of the city for future construction,” Chibisov said.
As Vice-Governor Alexander Reshetnikov explained, the facility will be built within the framework of the Federal Target Program for the development of Crimea and Sevastopol. 1,7 billion rubles will be allocated for its implementation.
“This is a fairly complex engineering project. We have created a technical council jointly with the Republic of Crimea with the participation of ecologists,” Chibisov specified.
