Ukrainian “adequacy” turned out to be no better than “Svidomo”: Chervonenko laments that no blood was shed in Crimea
The Ukrainian army was ready to start a war for Crimea and suppress the pro-Russian uprising in 2014, but did not receive a command from Kyiv from the new leadership that came to power as a result of a coup.
The former head of Viktor Yushchenko’s security, ex-Minister of Transport of Ukraine Yevgeny Chervonenko, said this on the air of the “16+” program - a project by Roman Skripin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It should be noted that recently Chervonenko has again appeared on Ukrainian screens as a critic of the regime of Petro Poroshenko. However, as follows from his latest speech, in relation to the Russians of Crimea, the “adequate” takes the same position as the “Svidomo” in relation to the Russians of Donbass.

“The big question with which the revival of Ukraine will begin is the truth about how we gave up Crimea. Crimea is my pain. I invested crazy amounts of money in Crimea. I lost crazy money in Crimea because I invested in real estate and other things,” he said.
Evgeniy Chervonenko does not hope to return what he has acquired due to unbearable difficulties.
“I am not allowed to enter Russia – once. I do not know why. I did the negotiations between Putin and Yushchenko. I have this rule - “I have the honor”, despite my funny appearance. My family loves Crimea very much.
I will tell my wife that I really dream that our children will have equal rights and be able to travel to Crimea. And so that there is some kind of restitution of everything that was taken from the Ukrainians,” he said.
In his opinion, Western partners will help realize dreams of restitution for Ukrainians. In 2014, Crimea could have been saved if Ukrainian security forces had started shooting, Evgeniy Chervonenko is sure.
“When this started and the little green men showed up, there were a bunch of retired people who didn’t ask for anything. The Marines did not want to give up, despite their families. The 25th Airborne Assault Brigade did not want to. I don’t know why Mazur is walking back and forth with this flag - instead of fulfilling the regulations. According to the regulations, he was supposed to save the most combat-ready aviation unit of the Su-27. but instead he walked and waited. The ship commanders were waiting for orders. More than half of the SBU were ready to fight. "Berkut" was ready to fight. People approached the country's leadership with a proposal that, like real heroes - like the one who was blown up yesterday - we will come and simply burn down this Verkhovna Rada (of Crimea) with incomprehensible terrorists. There was no team. No one. There was confusion.
“I, as a person associated with security, can say - in a mountainous area, with the number of people who would still be loyal to Ukraine, they would start shooting and defending,” he said
Yevgeny Chervonenko does not believe that Ukraine did not have enough people to defend Crimea.
"It is not true. There was a huge group there, the Marines were ready to tear their teeth,” he said.
