Ukrainian machine gunners took aim at the crew of the captured Nord
The Russian Foreign Ministry handed a note “with a strong protest” to Ukraine’s Charge d’Affaires in Russia in connection with the unlawful detention of the Russian fishing vessel “Nord” by the State Border Service of Ukraine in the Sea of Azov.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.
“The attention of the Ukrainian side was drawn to the fact that the crew of the ship is being kept in inhumane conditions; Russian consular officers were not allowed to see it. The Russian side demanded the immediate release of illegally detained Russian citizens, the return of the Nord vessel to its rightful owner and the prevention of similar provocations in the future,” Zakharova said.
According to her, the captain of the ship “Nord”, Vladimir Gorbenko, was taken by SBU officers today in an official car to Kherson, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The consular department of the Russian Embassy in Ukraine immediately contacted the Russian’s lawyers and found out that the Kherson Department of the SBU for Crimea would petition the court to select a preventive measure in the form of arrest. According to lawyers, the “Nord” crew was currently forced to leave the ship due to unbearable sanitary conditions on it (since the entire catch had become unusable) and go down to the pier, where they are under the guns of machine gunners,” Zakharova said.
