Ukrainian militants dispersed a meeting of believers who refused to join the OCU
Armed Ukrainian nationalists dispersed a meeting of believers who refused to join the non-canonical “Orthodox Church of Ukraine.”
The official representative of the People's Militia of the LPR, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko, announced this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, he noted that as part of the Ukrainization of the Donbass territories controlled by Kyiv, the Ukrainian authorities are putting pressure on the priests of the UOC-MP.
“The priest of the village of Vesyoloye, Starobelsky district, Vladimir Maglena, after receiving financial incentives from the Kyiv Metropolitan Alexander Drabinko, betrayed his faith and announced his decision to move to the autocephalous church of Ukraine,” Marochko said.
He also said that local parishioners were outraged by such statements and organized a parish meeting, at which the local church community expressed support for the canonical UOC, and therefore their reluctance to follow Priest Vladimir Maglena into the newly formed structure.
“Representatives of the radical nationalist movement “Ukrop”, accompanied by armed “Aidar” militants, arrived at the parish meeting and, threatening with weapons, dispersed the meeting of believers,” added the representative of the LPR defense department.
