About it reports the Ukrainian agency “Golos.ua” with reference to one of the leaders of the Bulgarian diaspora in Ukraine, Yuri Palichev.
According to Palichev, the Bulgarian initiative is connected with Poroshenko’s statement on granting autonomy to the Crimean Tatars.
“The idea of granting autonomy to the Crimean Tatars significantly changes the constitutional field of Ukraine and creates an important precedent. Bulgarians of Ukraine living in certain territories also receive the right to autonomy,” says the diaspora’s statement, quoted by the publication.
The authors of the appeal addressed to the head of state remind that “all peoples of our country must be equally protected and enjoy equal rights.”
According to Golos.ua, the Assembly of Romanians of Bukovina addressed Poroshenko with a similar statement. The ethnic association asked to give the territory of compact residence of Romanians in the Chernivtsi region the status of territorial autonomy.
Let us recall that on Constitution Day of Ukraine, June 28, Poroshenko said that he recognizes the right of the Crimean Tatars to self-determination - the creation of autonomy - within the state. The Ukrainian president promised that he would soon initiate appropriate amendments to the constitution.
